I am totally shocked and saddened by the news that I just discovered. I knew that there was a crash Friday, November 11, 2011 at the World Powerboat Championships in Key West, Florida that caused critical injuries to Joey Gratton, the throttleman for the Page Motorsports powerboat. The morning Key West paper, The Citizen, stated that he was in stable condition. The driver, Steve Page, had been released with minor cuts. I just found out that Joey Gratton died overnight in a Miami hospital from his injuries. This brings to three, the number of deaths during this year’s event.
I took a picture of the crash site that shows the bow of the boat pointed straight up in the air and the stern sunk.
